VHS publishes community link worker study

A report setting out the extensive and varied nature of third sector approaches to community link working across Scotland was launched by Voluntary Health Scotland last month at a seminar in Edinburgh.

Published as 'Gold Star Exemplars: Third sector Approaches to Community Link Working Across Scotland' the VHS report presents the findings of a Scotland wide mapping exercise that involved 60 third sector providers, 15 Third Sector Interfaces and 3 case studies.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement we are excited to announce that we are moving premises. The move will take place over the weekend of 15/16th July 2017 and we are working hard to minimise any disruption to our service. However there is always the risk of a temporary outage of our telephone and IT systems while lines are being moved across. While our telephone number won’t change from 01387 253113 and should be tried in the first instance, we are also offering a temporary emergency mobile contact number for anyone experiencing difficulty getting through to us during this transition.

Alzheimer Scotland, Dumfries Locality – Practice Team Leader

We are looking for a unique person who can manage the day-to-day activities of our day care service and who will ensure high quality practice in service delivery.  The Practice Team Leader will assist the Service Manager to develop and support personalised, flexible, creative and responsive community based services for people with dementia and their carers.  The Practice Team Leader will deputise in the absence of a Service Manager.

An office and a small meeting room on the 2nd floor in Alzheimer Scotland, Dumfries Resource Centre, 8 Gordon Street, Dumfries is now available for let.

The office is 4.83m x 4.3m in size (excluding bay windows) and has 4 double sockets, 2 radiators and network boxes.  We also have a small meeting room 3m x 2.3m which has 1 double socket, 1 radiator and a network box. 

Both rooms are fully carpeted and will be cleaned/bins emptied once per week.  All utilities (gas and electricity) included.  Own telephone line required.  Included is a buzzer call system, as there is a locked door policy with secure entry.

A message from Kerry Riddell on the D&G General Youth Work Training Programme 2017.

I’d like to introduce myself, I am Kerry Riddell and I work for LGBT Youth Scotland at their Dumfries office.  D&G Council has allocated funds for D&G General Youth Work Training Programme this year and I will be co-ordinating this.  The aim is to commencing the training in the autumn.
