Young Scot Delivery Panel Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to be on the Delivery Panel for the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2018, making key decisions in designing how the awards will look, run and feel.

For over twelve years, the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards has been Scotland’s only national awards evening for the young people of Scotland. We’ve seen the stories from the most incredible young people. Former nominees have risen to the top of the sporting, business, entertainment and the art worlds. Hundreds more are making a lasting difference to communities across Scotland.

As part of the Sunday Mail Young Scot Delivery Panel you will be influencing all decisions relating to the 2018 Awards. Young people are at the heart of Year of Young People 2018, and this role will put you at the heart of the decision making of the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2018.

Social Enterprise Scotland - New Strategic Board Announced

The establishment of the Enterprise and Skills Strategic Board was announced on 27th November. It is tasked with creating a fresh strategy for enterprise and skills support in Scotland.  However, along with Social Enterprise Scotland (SES), we are disappointed that there is no direct social enterprise representation on the panel. If the mutually reinforcing themes of competitiveness and tackling inequality, set out in Scotland's Economic Strategy, are to be achieved, the way in which we do business must be seen as important as the business we do.  Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway are working with SES to see how we can redress this issue.

River of Life Centre Christmas Dinner

At the River of Life Church we hold a Christmas Day Dinner, open to anyone who would be on their own on Christmas Day. We're also very happy to see couples or families who would be struggling and would benefit from this.

It's of course open to everyone whether or not they have a Christian faith.  We're also happy to accept offers of voluntary help for the day, of course.

Please promote this and speak to anyone you think could benefit from it. If they are feeling shy about coming along, I'd be delighted to get in touch with them beforehand or they could come along for a visit and a cuppa to calm their fears.

Thanks so much.
